The GIA (Gemological Institute of America - the world's foremost authority on gemstones) is currently studying Rainbow Calsilica due to the controversy over whether it is a naturally occurring gemstone or a manmade stone. Many well respected gemologists are importing this stone from Mexico where they say it is naturally mined. Testing thus far has produced mixed results. So far, it is a mystery stone!
